The Waccamaw Workforce Development Board and the Chief Elected Officials of Horry, Georgetown, and Williamsburg Counties are in the process of completing a petition to be re-designated as a workforce development area under the provisions of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act. This petition will be made to the Governor of the State of South Carolina, based on the area’s history of successful performance and sustained fiscal integrity as an existing workforce area in the State of South Carolina.
The public is invited to review the local area designation requirements at www.waccamawworks.org. Click on “News and Events” then “Re-designation Documents” to access the requirements. Comments should be submitted to Ayla Hemeon at ahemeon@wrcog.org no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday, February 5, 2021.

Waccamaw Workforce Development Board brings employers and job seekers together in South Carolina. The majority of the WWDB members are business representatives. Other members include representatives of education providers, labor organizations, community-based organizations, economic development agencies, and programs participating in the one-stop system. In our area, Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments serves as the administrative entity and fiscal agent for the Workforce Investment Board.
