Incumbent Worker Training Assistance-Deadline Extended

Incumbent Worker Training Assistance – Deadline Extended

Pursuant to Hurricane Matthew, the deadline to apply for Incumbent Worker Training Assistance (IWT) through the Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments, under provisions of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014, has been extended until October 21st.  The purpose of this IWT Program is to assist employers in training currently employed workers in an effort to keep businesses and workers competitive.  Private Sector South Carolina Employers located in the counties of Williamsburg, Georgetown and Horry in need of training for incumbent workers due to expansion and changing skill requirements caused by new technology, retooling, new product lines, and new organizational restructuring may be eligible for IWT assistance.  Interested employers must forward their request for IWT assistance to Ayla Hemeon, Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments, REFERENCE:  IWT PROGRAM, 1230 Highmarket Street, Georgetown, SC  29440, by October 21, 2016.  You may request an IWT Application by email to kmccutchen@wrcog.org or visit our website at http://www.waccamawworks.org.

The Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments, serving as the administrative entity for the Waccamaw Workforce Development Area, is accepting public comment on the Pee Dee Region’s four-year regional plan as required by The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014.  The Pee Dee Region includes the Waccamaw (Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg counties), Santee Lynches (Sumter, Clarendon, Kershaw and Lee counties) and Pee Dee (Florence, Marion, Darlington, Dillon, Marlboro and Chesterfield counties) Workforce Development Areas. The region’s four year plan serves as a process that will plan for, build, begin to implement, and provide for sustaining a talent development system built on defining the talent pipeline at the regional level that will support the State’s strategic and operational goals.  The plan can be found online at www.waccamawworks.org or at www.wrcog.org.  Comments on the plan can be submitted by October 30, 2016 in writing to the attention of:

The Waccamaw Workforce Development Area, which includes Georgetown, Horry and Williamsburg counties, and the Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments as its administrative entity are accepting public comment on their four-year local plan required by The Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) of 2014.  WIOA is designed to help youth, job seekers and businesses.  The comprehensive four-year local plan, in partnership with Chief Elected Officials, serves as a plan to develop, align, and integrate local area service delivery strategies with those that support the State’s strategic and operational goals.  The plan can be found online at www.waccamawworks.org or at www.wrcog.org.  Comments on the plan can be submitted by October 30, 2016 in writing to the attention of:

Waccamaw Workforce Development Board brings employers and job seekers together in South Carolina. The majority of the WWDB members are business representatives. Other members include representatives of education providers, labor organizations, community-based organizations, economic development agencies, and programs participating in the one-stop system. In our area, Waccamaw Regional Council of Governments serves as the administrative entity and fiscal agent for the Workforce Investment Board.
